Global investment giant Brookfield Asset Management is preparing to expand its Singapore real estate portfolio after deploying nearly S$900 million into the market over the past year, as it targets further opportunities in one of Asia’s most attractive property hubs.
The Canadian-based asset manager said Singapore remains a key focus for its regional real estate strategy due to the city-state’s strong economic fundamentals, stable policy environment and position as a major financial and business centre. Brookfield is looking for value-add investment opportunities where it can improve assets through redevelopment, repositioning and active management to generate higher returns.
Andrew Burych, managing partner and head of East Asia for Brookfield’s real estate group, said Singapore plays an important role in the firm’s Asia-Pacific expansion plans. The company believes the market offers attractive long-term prospects due to limited land availability, steady demand and Singapore’s role as a regional headquarters location.
Brookfield’s recent investments have focused on commercial and industrial property sectors, where demand has remained resilient due to growth in logistics, technology, advanced manufacturing and business services. The firm is particularly interested in assets that can benefit from operational improvements rather than relying only on market price appreciation.
The company’s increased activity comes as global investors continue searching for high-quality real estate opportunities in Asia amid changing market conditions. Singapore has attracted significant institutional capital because of its transparent regulations, strong infrastructure and reputation as a safe investment destination.
Brookfield expects to maintain a similar investment pace over the coming years as it looks for additional acquisitions across Singapore’s property market. The firm’s strategy is focused on acquiring assets with long-term growth potential and creating value through strategic improvements.
The expansion also aligns with Brookfield’s broader global approach of investing in essential real assets, including property, infrastructure and other long-duration investments. The company has continued building its Asia-Pacific presence through major transactions alongside institutional partners.
