A student was abducted and killed 2 days after demanding ransom in Khansama Upazila under Dinajpur district in Bangladesh.
On December 4, Khansama Thana police recovered his sacked body from the courtyard of the neighboring house.

Arifuzzaman’s recovered body

The deceased’s name is Arifuzzaman (8). He is the son of Atiur Rahman of Doctorpara, Kayempur village, Khamarpara union, Khansama upazila.
Police arrested one person in this incident.

Arrested accused Shariful Islam

According to the sources of the child’s family and Khansama police station, Arifuzzaman disappeared from the playground near the house in Kayempur village on the afternoon of December 2. Then around 8:00 pm, a mobile phone number called the child’s father and told about the abduction. At that time, a ransom of one lakh taka was demanded. That night, the child’s father Atiur filed a GD at the police station.


In the same area, suspected to be involved in the help of cell phone number and technology. Malek’s son Shariful Islam (23) was detained and interrogated at the police station. During the interrogation, he confessed to abducting the child, strangulating it and burying it in a sack. After that, going to the address given by Shariful, the police and DB officials along with intelligence agencies recovered the body in the presence of locals.


Officer-in-charge of Khansama police station Chittaranjan Roy said that after knowing about the incident, various intelligence agencies including the police continued to work to rescue the child. Shariful was detained as a suspect using technology and interrogated at the police station. Later, according to the information given by him, the body of the child was recovered. In this incident, the victim’s father filed a case of kidnapping and murder as a plaintiff. Shariful will be sent to court in that case.
