US Congressman Andrew Garbarino praised the economic progress of Bangladesh in the last 14 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He made this comment during a meeting with Bangladeshi American expatriates led by Morshed Alam held on August 18, 2023, in New York, United States.

Andrew Garbarino said, “I have learnt a lot about Bangladesh and its successes and I have seen the growth of the nation in last 14 years under the current prime minister’s leadership. I know elections are coming forth in January and she has turned over the election process to an independent commission to ensure that there are free and fair elections and to show the international community that there are free and fair election.”
“I hope the growth Bangladesh has seen with its economy, what it is doing with its energy, what it is doing with its infrastructure, and what it has done to combat extremism and terrorism if it continues I think Bangladesh should be an example after what it has accomplished to other nations, especially to democracies; and other countries should strive to have the success that Bangladesh has seen over the past decade and a half”, he added.
