Virgin Australia Plane Damaged in Tug Collision at Melbourne Airport
A Virgin Australia Boeing 737 sustained damage during a ground transfer at Melbourne Airport on Sunday night. The aircraft, which was being towed to a maintenance hangar in Tullamarine, became disconnected from the tug vehicle, resulting in a collision between the two.
The impact tore a section of the aircraft’s fuselage. Emergency crews responded promptly to assess and patch the damage.
No passengers were on board at the time. A Melbourne Airport spokesperson confirmed that authorities have been notified and an investigation is underway. Virgin Australia stated the incident will not affect Monday’s flight operations.
