Emergency crews have successfully winched a 20-year-old man to safety after he became trapped on a cliff face due to a rising tide at Jan Juc, along Victoria’s Great Ocean Road.
A police helicopter hovered overhead while a rescue worker was lowered to reach the man, who was clinging to the rocky cliffside as waves surged below. The rescuer secured him in a harness before lifting him to safety.
According to police, the man became stranded near the intersection of Ocean Boulevard and Cantala Drive. Emergency services were alerted shortly after 3pm, and the rescue was completed just before 4pm.
The man was being treated for minor injuries following the incident.
