Bangladesh Observes State Mourning Following Tragic Jet Crash in Uttara
A Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BGI training jet crashed on Monday afternoon (July 21) at the Milestone School and College campus in Uttara Diabari, Dhaka, resulting in a devastating loss of life. According to official reports, 27 people have been confirmed dead and over 150 others injured, with most of the victims being students from the school.
In response to the tragedy, the government declared a national day of mourning on Tuesday, July 22. As part of the observance, the national flag is being flown at half-mast across all government, semi-government, autonomous bodies, and educational institutions throughout the country. Bangladeshi embassies and missions abroad are also observing the gesture in solidarity.
Additionally, special prayers are being held at religious institutions across the nation, seeking peace for the departed souls and recovery for the injured. This was confirmed by the Press Wing of the Chief Advisor.
The Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) provided details of the crash, stating that the aircraft took off at 1:06 PM and lost control shortly thereafter, crashing into the school building and triggering widespread devastation.
This tragic event has plunged the nation into deep mourning, with grief reverberating throughout the country.
