Police have arrested and charged a 35-year-old woman from the regional town of Gilgandra in New South Wales with distributing child abuse material online.

Police said detectives from Strike Force Trawler raided a house in Gilgandra on Tuesday morning after receiving information about an online account linked to child abuse material. The account was allegedly registered to a person from the Central West region of New South Wales.

Police arrived at the house at about 7.15am and arrested the woman. She is alleged to have attempted to obstruct police officers and resist arrest.

She was later taken into custody and taken to Dubbo Police Station, where she was charged with four counts of making child abuse material available online using telecommunications services.

She has also been charged with obstructing arrest and obstructing a police officer in the act of duty.

Police have refused her bail application. She is due to appear in a local court on Wednesday.

Authorities have not released details about the alleged online account or related materials, citing the investigation’s ongoing nature.

Strike Force Trawler detectives are continuing to investigate the incident. The charges are currently pending in court. The woman will be presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
