Israel Strikes Gaza Despite Trump’s Hamas Disarmament Plan

Israeli forces have carried out further strikes across the Gaza Strip, killing Palestinians despite a US-backed proposal that calls for Hamas to disarm as part of a broader plan to end the conflict and move towards an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.

According to Palestinian officials, Israeli attacks hit multiple locations across Gaza, including areas near Deir el-Balah, Khan Younis and Gaza City. Gaza’s civil defence authorities reported casualties from several strikes, with residents and emergency teams responding to damage and injuries.

The attacks came shortly after US President Donald Trump announced progress on a Gaza plan involving Hamas disarmament, which includes a roadmap that links the group’s weapons surrender with a future Israeli withdrawal and political transition in the territory.

The agreement has faced major challenges, with disagreements over implementation, security guarantees and the timing of any Israeli withdrawal. Israeli officials have argued that Hamas must demonstrate genuine disarmament before further steps are taken, while Palestinian factions have demanded guarantees regarding Israeli military actions and Gaza’s future governance.

The continued violence has raised concerns that the diplomatic process could collapse before the next stage of the plan begins. Humanitarian organisations have warned that renewed fighting could worsen conditions for Gaza’s civilian population, where many communities remain displaced and infrastructure has been heavily damaged.

International observers are closely watching whether the US-brokered initiative can move beyond announcements into practical implementation, as both sides remain divided over security, political control and the future of Gaza.
