The Israeli military announced on Tuesday that it had killed Iran’s top military commander, Ali Shadmani, in an overnight airstrike. They described him as the most senior military figure in Iran and a close associate of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
According to a statement, the strike targeted a staffed command center in central Tehran after what was described as a “sudden opportunity.” The Israeli Air Force carried out the operation, which resulted in the death of Shadmani, who served as the wartime Chief of Staff and was deeply connected to both the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Iran’s regular armed forces.
