A man has been hospitalized following the rollover of a military vehicle near a major training area in central Queensland.

Emergency services responded around 2:20pm to the scene on St Lawrence Road, along the Bruce Highway at Ogmore, after a Bushmaster military vehicle overturned.

According to the Queensland Ambulance Service, a man sustained minor leg injuries and was transported to Rockhampton Hospital in stable condition.

The crash occurred between Rockhampton and Mackay, just north of the Shoalwater Bay Military Training Area—approximately 100 kilometres north of Rockhampton.

The Shoalwater Bay facility is extensively used by the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) for military exercises.

As of 4:30pm, Queensland Police confirmed the Bruce Highway remained open to traffic.

The Bushmaster involved in the incident is a Protected Mobility Vehicle designed for multiple military uses. It can carry up to ten troops and features a V-shaped armoured hull to shield occupants from landmines and explosive threats.

The ACNN has reached out to the Department of Defence for a response.
