The Matildas are anxiously awaiting scan results on Tameka Yallop’s right hamstring after the midfielder suffered an injury during Brisbane Roar’s final A-League Women match of the season.

Yallop left the field in the 89th minute of the Roar’s 2–0 defeat to Melbourne Victory in Melbourne on Saturday, visibly clutching her hamstring. After receiving treatment behind the goal, she attempted to make her way to the bench with assistance but was unable to put weight on her right leg and was eventually carried to the change rooms.

While the Roar were already out of finals contention, a significant injury could see Yallop — who’s been in outstanding form this season with 12 goals — miss Australia’s upcoming international friendlies against Argentina in May and June.

The setback comes just days after confirmation of Mary Fowler’s season-ending ACL injury.

“I think it’s her hamstring,” said Roar coach Alex Smith after the match.

“We’ll head back to Brisbane, get a scan on Monday or Tuesday, and take it from there. She mentioned it locked up a bit, so we’ll need to find out what’s going on. If it’s bad, it’s bad.

“It just kind of sums up the game and sums up our 2025 season as a club, but we’ll have to wait and see.”

The match held no bearing on the standings, with Victory unable to move past premiers Melbourne City or be overtaken in second place, while Brisbane Roar had already been eliminated from finals contention in seventh.
