A homicide investigation has been initiated after a child’s body was discovered in the Wide Bay area of Queensland, approximately four hours north of Brisbane.
Emergency responders arrived at a residence on Regency Road in Moore Park Beach, located north of Bundaberg, at around 4:45 p.m.
Chief Inspector Grant Marcus reported that Bundaberg police received several calls regarding the incident.
“Officers responded quickly and, sadly, located a deceased child,” he stated.
He also mentioned that a woman is currently cooperating with police as part of the investigation.
Chief Inspector Marcus noted that the age and gender of the child have not yet been disclosed.
“Our detectives and senior crime officers are actively investigating the circumstances,” he said.
“We’re speaking with neighbours and thoroughly examining the scene.”
Authorities confirmed there is no ongoing risk to the public.
