Purga exclusion zone declared after reports of shots fired at Ipswich Boonah Road

A rural region southwest of Brisbane has been cordoned off by police following reports of gunfire.

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) issued an emergency declaration in Purga on Monday evening under the Public Safety Preservation Act.

This action came after authorities responded to a report of shots fired at a property on Ipswich Boonah Road at approximately 4:35pm.

According to QPS, early investigations suggest that no injuries have been reported.

The emergency declaration was enacted around 5:45pm, with the exclusion zone covering Ipswich Boonah Road to the west, Hughes Road to the north, Eastfield Court to the east, and Carmichael Road to the south.

The public is urged to avoid the area, and residents within the zone are advised to stay indoors until further notice.
