Teen Sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi Smashes Record-Breaking IPL Century
When Rajasthan Royals signed 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, many assumed it was a future investment — or a publicity stunt. But now, after just three games, no one is doubting his talent.
At just 14, Suryavanshi stunned the cricket world with a breathtaking 35-ball century — the second fastest in IPL history — propelling Rajasthan Royals to a dominant eight-wicket win over Gujarat Titans in Jaipur.
Only Chris Gayle’s 30-ball ton remains faster than Suryavanshi’s. After a cautious start, scoring nine from his first seven deliveries, the young left-hander exploded, hammering 92 runs from his next 28 balls, including ten sixes and seven fours.
His milestone century was fittingly sealed with a massive six off Rashid Khan, and the Jaipur crowd, clad in pink, erupted with every boundary.
Suryavanshi was eventually bowled for 101, but by then the Royals had all but chased down Gujarat’s 209, securing the win with 25 balls to spare.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who contributed an unbeaten 70, praised the teen: “Incredible innings, one of the best I have seen. He has the game and temperament, and I hope he keeps doing this for us.”
Gujarat captain Shubman Gill, who earlier struck 84 from 50 balls, also admired Suryavanshi’s fearless approach: “It was his day — tremendous hitting.”
The young star himself was still soaking in the moment:
“It feels really good,” said Suryavanshi. “What I’ve been practising for the last few months is showing results. I just focus on the ball, not the field. It’s like a dream to score a century in the IPL.”
