Former US President Donald Trump has expressed pride over America’s involvement in facilitating the recently declared full ceasefire between India and Pakistan. He also reiterated his interest in helping resolve the long-standing Kashmir issue.
In a late-night post on his social media platform Truth Social on Saturday, Trump stated, “I’m proud that the United States was able to assist in reaching this historic and courageous decision.”
He further added, “Both India and Pakistan have shown strong and visionary leadership. They realized that now is the time to stop aggression.”
While trade was not a direct part of the ceasefire discussions, Trump mentioned his intention to expand trade with both countries. He also expressed hope that a solution to the centuries-old Kashmir issue could eventually be found through cooperation.
Earlier, in a separate post on Truth Social, Trump declared, “After long overnight negotiations, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire with the help of US mediation.”
He congratulated both nations, saying, “Congratulations to both for using common sense and great strategy. Thank you for focusing on this critical matter.”
Trump’s remarks have sparked international debate over whether the US is now seriously stepping into the role of a mediator in the Kashmir conflict.
