Two More Men Charged Over Fatal Easter Sunday Stabbing in Prahran

Homicide Squad detectives have charged two additional individuals in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in Melbourne’s inner south-east on Easter Sunday.

The victim, a 30-year-old man from Mickleham, died from multiple stab wounds after allegedly being chased by a group of six individuals along Chapel Street in Prahran during the early hours of April 20. Although emergency responders treated him at the scene, he died en route to the hospital.

Today, police charged a 21-year-old man from Campbellfield and a 22-year-old man from Roxburgh Park in relation to the attack, along with other unrelated offences.

The Campbellfield man faces charges including affray, intentionally causing injury, common law assault, attempted robbery, and possession of a drug of dependence, explosives, and ammunition. He is expected to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this afternoon.

The Roxburgh Park man has been charged with affray, intentionally causing injury, attempted robbery, and failing to provide a PIN code. He has been granted bail and is scheduled to appear in the same court tomorrow.

Police say the victim was attacked by a group of males around 1:30am in a bustling nightlife area filled with partygoers and traffic.

Two men were previously charged over the same incident. On Easter Monday, a 35-year-old man from Lidcombe, NSW, was arrested at Melbourne Airport and later charged with murder. A 20-year-old man from Kurunjang has also been charged with murder. Both are due to appear in court on September 4.

Investigators continue to urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000 or submit a report anonymously via www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
