A man and a woman were fatally shot outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, DC, according to law enforcement sources.

Both victims are believed to have connections to a foreign embassy, with several sources indicating that at least one was affiliated with the Israeli Embassy.

Ted Deutch, CEO of the American Jewish Committee (AJC), confirmed that the museum had hosted an event that evening.
“We are heartbroken that such a horrific act of violence occurred outside the venue,” he said. “As we await further details from the authorities, our thoughts are entirely with the victims and their families.”

ABC News reported that one of the victims had initially been taken to hospital in critical condition.

Police are currently questioning a person of interest in connection to the incident.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and Interim U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro visited the site soon after the shooting. Bondi posted on X, saying, “Praying for the victims of this violence as we work to learn more.”

Israeli Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, condemned the incident as a “depraved act of anti-Semitic terrorism,” stating on X: “Harming diplomats and the Jewish community is crossing a red line.”
