Good Samaritan Carjacked After Stopping to Help Teens in Melbourne Crash

A woman who stopped to assist a group of teenagers following a crash on Melbourne’s Monash Freeway has been attacked and had her vehicle stolen, prompting a police appeal for witnesses.

The incident occurred around 6:15am on April 26, when a stolen Toyota Prius, reportedly driving erratically, collided with barriers near Glenferrie Road. A 33-year-old woman who had been driving behind the vehicle pulled over to help.

According to police, two of the five teens involved in the crash turned on the woman, forcibly taking her car keys and fleeing the scene in her blue Toyota sedan, which has the registration plate 1LK6LL.

The woman sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics.

Authorities revealed the Toyota Prius had been stolen two days earlier, on April 24, during an armed carjacking in Point Cook. In that incident, four male offenders approached a parked vehicle on Adelphi Boulevard as the driver entered a nearby fast-food outlet. A female passenger was threatened with a bladed weapon but managed to escape unharmed.

Police are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage related to the Monash Freeway incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000 or make a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
