Parents are being warned to immediately stop using a seat belt extender due to concerns it could lead to “serious injury or death” in children.

The M&C Nebulae Australia seat belt extender has been recalled urgently after it was found to not meet mandatory safety standards for car child restraints.

According to a Product Safety Australia notice, “This product is intended solely for adult passengers and is not suitable for use with infant or child restraint systems.”

“There is a risk of severe injury or death to children if the vehicle brakes suddenly or is involved in a collision.”

Consumers are advised to discontinue use of the product with child or baby restraints right away and to contact M&C Nebulae to arrange a refund.
