Irish comedian and actress Aisling Bea has praised Sydney’s welcoming atmosphere and vibrant culture while spending time in Australia for her latest film project. The performer said the city’s energy reminded her of home, describing locals as having a spirit similar to the Irish community.

Bea is currently in Sydney filming the upcoming movie “Starman” alongside Brendan Fraser and Jeff Daniels, directed by Australian filmmaker Josh Wakely. She described the project as a “beautiful” film centred around a man who chooses a journey to Mars rather than confronting personal struggles through traditional means.

During her stay, Bea was joined by her mother Helen O’Sullivan, who has a special connection with Sydney’s famous Royal Randwick racecourse. O’Sullivan, one of Ireland’s early female professional flat-race jockeys, previously competed at Randwick, prompting the family to revisit the historic venue.

Bea said she has embraced life in Sydney with her Australian partner and their young daughter, enjoying the city’s lifestyle, beaches and community atmosphere. She highlighted the similarities between Sydney and Ireland, particularly the friendliness and humour of local people.

The actress and comedian’s visit has also strengthened her connection with Australia, marking another chapter in her international career across comedy, television and film. Known for her work in projects including “This Way Up”, Bea has built a reputation for combining humour with personal storytelling.

As filming continues, Bea said she is looking forward to exploring more of Sydney with her family, including visits to popular attractions such as Taronga Zoo.
