Elle Fanning was one of the standout stars at the recent Cannes Film Festival, turning heads whether she was dressed in a powder-blue Chanel gown or a casual T-shirt with “Joachim Trier Summer” written across it.
Despite her polished red carpet appearances, Fanning admits that representing both her upcoming film Sentimental Value and L’Oréal Paris as a brand ambassador brought a mix of nerves and excitement.
“My heart was racing,” Fanning told Stellar, recalling the moment she stepped onto the iconic red carpet. “It’s butterflies in the best way. Cannes is magical for me — I’ve been here with so many films, I’ve served on the Jury. There’s nothing like stepping onto that giant red carpet at the Palais.”
At just 27, Fanning is already a seasoned presence in Hollywood. She began her career at the age of two, playing a young version of her sister Dakota Fanning’s character in I Am Sam.
Her career has since included notable roles in films like Sofia Coppola’s Somewhere (2010), Maleficent (2014) alongside Angelina Jolie, and The Beguiled (2017) with Nicole Kidman. Most recently, she starred with Timothée Chalamet in the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, which earned Oscar recognition.
Fanning will reunite with Kidman in the upcoming TV series Margo’s Got Money Troubles, and she’s also set to take on the iconic role of Effie Trinket in the Hunger Games prequel, Sunrise on the Reaping.
Her latest film, Sentimental Value, directed by Joachim Trier, brought her back to Cannes — and fittingly, she plays a young actress navigating the highs and lows of fame.
