An investigation is underway after a man’s body was found beside a freeway in Gippsland.
The 40-year-old Traralgon man was discovered on the Princes Freeway overpass in Morwell, roughly two hours southeast of Melbourne. Authorities suspect he was struck by a vehicle that did not remain at the scene.
Police received the report around 9:00 a.m., and the Major Collision Investigation Unit is leading the inquiry. They believe the incident occurred between 1 a.m. and 9 a.m. today.
Traffic has been diverted from the area for much of the day as investigations continue.
Officers are asking drivers in the area to review their dashcam footage for any sightings of the man walking or of the vehicle involved.
