The owners of Borrodell Estate, a well-known vineyard and wedding venue in central west New South Wales, say they are “devastated but not beaten” after a fire destroyed their restaurant over the weekend.

The blaze occurred on Sunday morning at the estate, located near Orange. Emergency services were called to the scene around 9:30am and managed to extinguish the fire shortly afterward.

In a statement shared on social media, the estate confirmed that no one was injured and expressed gratitude for the safety of their staff and guests.

Police have attended the scene, and an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.

Weddings and Events to Continue

Despite the damage, the rest of the estate remains unaffected. As a popular destination for weddings, the estate has reassured couples with upcoming bookings that all events will go ahead as planned.

“We’re already making arrangements to keep welcoming guests,” a spokesperson said, noting that plans are underway to establish temporary dining facilities on the property.

Restaurant Operations to Resume in Temporary Location

The winery is expected to reopen within a week, with dining services temporarily relocated elsewhere on the vineyard grounds.

Ned Sweetapple, general manager of local tourism body Orange360, said the fire came as a major shock to the community.

“We’re saddened by the news,” she said. “Fortunately, the damage was limited to the restaurant, which is separate from the other facilities.”
