Agricultural leader Rebecca Reardon has been elected as the new President of NSW Farmers, taking charge of one of the state’s most influential farming organisations at a time of significant challenges for the rural sector.
Reardon, a Moree-based mixed farmer and experienced agribusiness leader, brings decades of experience across farming, supply chains and agricultural markets. She has previously served as vice president of NSW Farmers and has been recognised for her advocacy on behalf of farming communities.
Her appointment comes as NSW farmers face a wide range of pressures, including drought conditions, water management issues, rising input costs, energy transition challenges, workforce shortages and the need for stronger supply chain resilience.
The organisation’s annual conference highlighted key priorities for the sector, including food security, agricultural technology, pest control, fuel and fertiliser availability, environmental regulations and support for regional communities.
Reardon said strengthening the future of agriculture and ensuring farmers have a strong voice in policy discussions would be central to her leadership. Industry representatives have welcomed her practical approach and focus on delivering outcomes for farming families.
The leadership change comes as Australian agriculture navigates a period of transformation, with farmers balancing traditional production challenges alongside new opportunities in technology, sustainability and global markets.
