Aged care worker charged with sexually abusing elderly residents and sharing videos
An aged care worker has been charged with sexually abusing seven elderly residents at a facility in Sydney’s south-west and allegedly sending footage of the assaults to her partner.
The NSW Police Sex Crimes Squad launched an investigation in March after a 46-year-old woman was accused of sexually assaulting several elderly individuals.
Detectives seized the woman’s phone and reportedly found video evidence of the assaults taking place at an aged care facility in Grasmere.
Police allege the worker not only recorded the abuse but also shared the footage with her partner, a 54-year-old man. The assaults are believed to have occurred between Sunday, August 4, and Tuesday, August 27, 2024, and involved five male and two female residents.
Authorities also said the woman’s phone contained unrelated recordings of bestiality.
On Thursday, the woman was formally charged with a series of offences:
- Four counts of aggravated sexual assault
- Eleven counts of aggravated sexual touching
- Two counts of sexual touching
- Thirteen counts of recording intimate images without consent
- Nine counts of distributing intimate images without consent
- Four counts of possessing bestiality material
She was refused bail and is scheduled to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Friday.
Police arrested her partner on Wednesday at a property in Heckenberg. His phone was also seized during the operation.
The 54-year-old man was later charged with:
- Four counts of possessing bestiality material
- Four counts of distributing bestiality material
He appeared before Liverpool Local Court on Thursday and was granted bail. His next court appearance is set for June.
