Woman Charged with Murder After Toddler Found Dead in Bundaberg Home

A woman has been charged with murder following the discovery of a young child’s body at a residence in Bundaberg, Queensland.

Queensland Police reported that emergency services were called to a property on Regency Road in Moore Park Beach around 4:45pm on Monday, where the body of a three-year-old girl was found.

“A person was located unresponsive and declared deceased at the scene,” police confirmed in a statement. A crime scene has been established and investigations into the circumstances are ongoing. Authorities stated there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Chief Inspector Grant Marcus described the situation as a “horrendous tragedy,” saying, “Multiple calls were coming in … police rushed to the scene and sadly found the child deceased.”

A 32-year-old woman has been taken into custody and charged with one count of murder. She is scheduled to appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Police confirmed that the child’s death is not connected to the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of 17-year-old Phoebe Bishop, who went missing last week en route to Bundaberg Airport from Gin Gin. The search for Phoebe continues.
