At least 23 Palestinians, including several children, were killed in recent Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health, as reported by Al Jazeera.
Israel has intensified its bombardment of Gaza amid a month-long blockade, deepening the already dire humanitarian crisis in the coastal territory.
In the last 24 hours, 23 Palestinians were killed and 124 wounded by Israeli attacks. Many of the injured are in critical condition, indicating the death toll may rise.
On Saturday evening, an airstrike targeted a tent sheltering a displaced family in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, killing four people. Earlier in the day, five members of the Tlaib family, including three children and their parents, were killed in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City.
Omar Abu al-Qas, a relative of the victims, told AFP that the family was sleeping in the tent when an Israeli warplane bombed them without any warning. “They died without committing any crime,” he said.
Six more people were killed in a drone strike in the Tuffah neighborhood, and one more died in Sheikh Radwan when Israel bombed an apartment belonging to the Zakout family.
In southern Gaza, Israeli naval forces heavily shelled the coast of Rafah, killing Mohammad Saeed al-Bardawil. Two more civilians were injured in the al-Mawasi humanitarian zone near Rafah.
Airstrikes continue across the Gaza Strip, and rescue teams have not yet reached all affected areas, so the full extent of casualties remains unknown.
