AFLW star-turned-broadcaster Abbey Holmes has made a heartfelt farewell from Channel 7, wrapping up her time on air as she prepares to welcome her first child.
The beloved presenter received a warm and thoughtful send-off from her colleagues — including Dale Thomas and Matthew Richardson — following Collingwood’s dominant win over Hawthorn at the MCG on Friday night.
Holmes, 34, who has continued her reporting duties late into her pregnancy, shared last week that she and her husband, Keegan Brooksby, are expecting a baby boy in June.
Despite appearing ready to give birth for several weeks, Holmes remained a constant presence on Seven’s footy coverage. Friday night’s farewell came as a surprise, with the commentary team presenting her with a stunning bouquet of white and purple flowers and offering their full support as she enters motherhood.
Dale Thomas praised Holmes, saying she’ll be “an incredible mother” and noted her departure leaves big shoes to fill.
“Unfortunately for us, this is your last Friday night footy,” Thomas said. “We’ve had to call in a whole army to replace what you’ve brought to the team.”
