A firefighter has sustained potentially life-threatening injuries after a fire truck collided with a tree south of Brisbane.

According to a Queensland Fire Department spokesperson, emergency crews responded to the incident around 9:30am on Beaudesert Beenleigh Road at Mundoolun, located west of Tamborine Mountain.

“There was only one person in the vehicle at the time,” the spokesperson stated.

“[Fire crews] used hydraulic spreaders to reach the patient, who was then transported to hospital.”

The spokesperson noted that the fire truck had been operating under normal road conditions.

Queensland Ambulance Service reported that the injured man, in his 30s, suffered “potentially life-threatening injuries to his lower limbs” and was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Queensland Police Service advised that the road is expected to remain closed for at least the next two hours.
