To foster enthusiasm among young students for artificial intelligence and technology, the 2nd edition of the Bangladesh Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (BDAIO) 2025 is set to take place. The event is being jointly organized by the Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) and the Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT).
This information was shared through a press release issued on Tuesday, May 13.
🔹 Participation & Preliminary Round
Students from schools, colleges, technical education boards, and British curriculum institutions across Bangladesh are eligible to participate. The preliminary rounds, held on May 3 and 10, selected 171 finalists for the national level.
🔹 National Round & International Opportunity
The national round will be held on Saturday, May 17, at the BUBT campus, featuring a 5-hour long Machine Learning and Programming Contest. Winners from this stage will represent Bangladesh in the International AI Olympiad in Beijing, China.
They will receive certificates, exciting prizes, and opportunities for both online and offline training.
🔹 New Additions: Quiz & Workshops
This year’s event introduces a new 30-minute quiz segment focusing on AI and Python programming, featuring MCQs and fill-in-the-blank questions. A panel discussion and workshop will follow the quiz, where 235 students have already been selected in both junior and senior categories. Attractive prizes await the quiz winners as well.

The press conference was attended by BUBT Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Shaukat Ali, IQAC and BRIC Director Prof. Shanti Narayan Ghosh, BDAIO Team Lead and DU IIT Director Prof. Dr. B.M. Mainul Hossain, Dean Dr. Munshi Mahbubur Rahman, CSE Chair Asst. Prof. Md. Saifur Rahman, and senior officials from the event’s lead sponsor Riiv Chat.
Vice-Chancellor Shaukat Ali stated, “BDAIO is not just a competition—it’s a key platform for preparing the youth to thrive in a technology-driven future.”
