As tensions escalate between India and Pakistan, Bangladesh has heightened security along its borders. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has instructed police superintendents in bordering districts to remain on high alert.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday (May 7) at a Supreme Court Federation event, the IGP emphasized that law enforcement is closely monitoring the borders to prevent any militant or terrorist infiltration into Bangladesh. “We’ve directed all district police near the border to stay vigilant and increase surveillance,” he said.

Also present at the event were the President of the Bangladesh Police Club and Additional IGP of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Md. Mostofa Kamal, along with other senior officials.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep concern over the India-Pakistan standoff. In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, the ministry said Bangladesh is “closely observing the situation” and urged both neighboring countries to exercise restraint and pursue diplomatic means to de-escalate the conflict.

“Bangladesh hopes both nations will prioritize peace, stability, and regional prosperity through peaceful resolution,” the statement added.
