In a significant revelation, India has accused Turkey of supplying 300 to 400 drones to Pakistan, which were allegedly used in attacks targeting both military and civilian areas along the Line of Control (LoC) and India’s western borders. The claim was made during a special press briefing under “Operation Sindoor,” conducted by Indian defense officials.
According to the Indian Army, the drones violated Indian airspace at 36 different locations, ranging from Leh in Ladakh to Sir Creek in Gujarat. Many of the drones were intercepted or destroyed using kinetic and non-kinetic countermeasures.
Forensic analysis of the drone debris suggests they were Turkish-made “Assisguard Songar” models. This has intensified concerns in Indian diplomatic circles regarding Turkey’s growing military cooperation with Pakistan.
Although Turkey has denied delivering weapons to Pakistan, the presence of Turkish C-130 military cargo planes in Pakistani airspace was detected by international air surveillance systems. Ankara claims the aircraft landed only for refueling, a statement that has done little to allay suspicions.
Colonel Sophia Qureshi of the Indian Army stated that on Thursday night, Pakistan made several attempts to target Indian military installations and repeatedly violated Indian airspace. “There were around 300 to 400 drone attempts overnight. Many were neutralized, and forensic investigations are underway,” she said.
Experts warn that Turkey’s deepening military ties with Pakistan could reshape regional geopolitics. With Turkish defense firms assisting Pakistan in submarine upgrades and both countries conducting regular joint exercises, New Delhi now views Ankara’s actions with increasing caution.
