A person has been hospitalised following a large fire that broke out at a storage facility in Burpengary, north of Brisbane, on Wednesday evening.
Emergency crews responded to the Storage King site on Old Gympie Road shortly after 6pm. It took 26 firefighting units over three hours to bring the blaze under control.
Due to heavy smoke, police issued an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act, which was lifted around 2am Thursday. The exclusion zone covered several nearby roads, including New Settlement, Pitt, Bellini, Twists, and Old Bay roads.
Authorities urged residents to stay indoors and keep windows closed, while the public was asked to steer clear of the area.
Two people were treated for smoke inhalation, with one transported to Caboolture Hospital in stable condition.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
