Police are investigating the death of a woman after a house fire broke out in Alice Springs on Thursday night.
Emergency services responded to the blaze at a residence in Sadadeen shortly after 10:40pm, where they arrived to find the home fully alight.
The Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service managed to extinguish the flames, and a woman’s body was later discovered in one of the property’s bedrooms.
Authorities have not yet identified the woman, with the formal identification process still in progress.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined, and a fire investigator was on site Friday to examine the scene.
Police have yet to confirm whether anyone else was injured or evacuated during the incident.
The home has been declared a crime scene, and officers are urging anyone with information to come forward.
