British pop superstar Robbie Williams has revealed he has been diagnosed with autism, saying the discovery has helped him better understand his personality, behaviour and long-running struggles with mental health.

The former Take That singer shared the news during a question-and-answer event connected to his clothing brand Hopeium, explaining that the diagnosis gave him a new perspective on many aspects of his life. Williams said the discovery helped explain certain behaviours and challenges he had experienced for years.

Williams, 52, has previously spoken openly about living with ADHD, anxiety, depression and intrusive thoughts. He said the autism diagnosis, alongside his existing ADHD diagnosis, has helped him understand how his mind works, including his intense focus on creative projects and difficulties with concentration and social situations.

The singer described the diagnosis positively, saying it provided relief and clarity rather than feeling like a limitation. He explained that understanding his neurodivergence has allowed him to approach his challenges with greater self-awareness and acceptance.

Williams also discussed how creativity has played an important role in managing his thoughts and emotions. He said focusing on music, art, fashion and creative projects helps redirect his energy and provides a way to manage periods of anxiety and overwhelming thoughts.

The singer has spent much of his career speaking honestly about personal struggles, including addiction and mental health challenges. He has previously revealed that he has been sober for more than two decades and has worked to channel his energy into creative pursuits.

Fans have praised Williams for discussing his diagnosis publicly, with many saying his openness could help increase understanding of autism and ADHD among adults who may have gone undiagnosed for years.

Despite his personal challenges, Williams remains one of Britain’s most successful entertainers, with a decades-long career that includes record-breaking albums, global tours and a lasting influence on pop culture.
