Malaysia’s YTL Power International has entered into a strategic partnership with U.S. tech leader Nvidia Corp to launch a RM10 billion (S$3 billion) green-powered artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure project in the country.

According to Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz, the large-scale initiative will involve building AI data centres, deploying Nvidia’s advanced graphic processing units, and developing a sovereign large language model for Malaysia.

In a post shared on X on July 26, Zafrul mentioned that YTL will also collaborate with technology partners, suppliers, and local contractors to build a comprehensive AI ecosystem.

He added that this partnership reflects how Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s global outreach is facilitating investments that are set to transform Malaysia’s economic and tech future.

YTL Power, listed on Bursa Malaysia and a subsidiary of YTL Corporation, is a prominent independent power producer with operations spanning Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Jordan.

Its Singapore-based unit, YTL PowerSeraya, plays a key role in supplying energy within the country.

Beyond power generation, YTL Power is also involved in water and sewerage services, telecommunications, and is expanding its presence in data centres and digital banking—bolstering Malaysia’s digital and sustainable development goals.

On Monday, YTL Power’s stock rose by as much as 3.6% (15 sen), reaching RM4.30, before closing the day slightly higher by 0.2% (1 sen) at RM4.16.
