A woman has been charged after allegedly carrying out a stabbing spree in the regional Victorian town of Bairnsdale, leaving four men injured and hospitalised.

The 24-year-old woman from Ravenhall is accused of beginning the series of attacks around 9:50pm on Thursday at a supermarket on Nicholson Street. Police received reports of a woman in her 20s acting erratically and approaching people inside the store.

It’s alleged she stabbed a 45-year-old male staff member in the stomach before fleeing. He remains in serious condition in hospital.

The woman then reportedly approached a 21-year-old man in a nearby fast-food restaurant car park, demanding a ride. During the confrontation, he sustained a minor stomach injury.

Police believe she next went to a hotel on Macleod Street, where she allegedly struck a 52-year-old man on the arm. A fourth victim was later stabbed in the shoulder as the woman was walking toward Bairnsdale Train Station.

All four victims were taken to hospital. While the supermarket worker remains in serious condition, the others were treated for minor injuries and have since been released.

Police arrested the woman shortly after the incidents. She has been charged with intentionally and recklessly causing injury and is scheduled to appear in Bairnsdale Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
